**THIS PILOT HAS NOW FINISHED**
DO YOU LIVE ON GRAFTON STREET, DE GREY STREET, LAMBERT STREET, HAWORTH STREET, BERESFORD AVENUE, WELLESLEY AVENUE OR HEATHCOTE STREET?
Hull University Union have now launched The Pink Bag Scheme pilot in partnership with Hull City Council on the above streets and we need your help! Five people moving out of a house at the same time with only 1 black bin between you is a nightmare! We want to make it easier for you to clear out when it’s time to leave your student accommodation for the year. It might seem like ages away what with exams going on, but it’s really not that far away. Start your spring clean NOW!
Hull University Union have been working with Hull City Council to develop a pilot scheme to make moving out easier.
The scheme aims to reduce the amount of waste and fly tipping left in the streets when you move out for the summer. Not only that, leaving a clean and waste free house will help you with getting your deposit back!
We want you to sort out and reuse, recycle or donate your stuff before you move out. Just recycle everything you can, donate via the local charity shops or the British Heart Foundation and Project Hotdog Homeless Support charity boxes at HUU’s reception. Anything that can’t be reused, recycled or donated can be binned as usual in the black bin, or in our PINK BAGS as overspills.
**Donate clothing, shoes and non-perishable food to Project Hotdog Hull Homesless Support using the collection boxes at HUU’s reception**
**All other items can be donated to the British Heart Foundation using their donation box**
From 30th May – 6th June (excluding Saturday and Sunday), pink bags can be placed at the kerbside and will be collected by Hull City Council between 10am-2pm daily.
We’ll be knocking on doors on Grafton, Lambert and De Grey on 14th May, and if you need more bags after this, they can be collected from HUU’s reception or the AskHU desk.
This is currently only a pilot scheme, therefore the streets included are:
De Grey Street
Have a clear out! If you need a break from revision, clearing out is a great way to take your mind off things for half an hour.
- Recycle everything that has the recycle logo on and remember not to bag the items otherwise they won’t be collected.
- Clothing, shoes and food can be donated at the HUU Reception to Project Hotdog, and for anything else, there’s the British Heart Foundation.
- Bags will only be collected from 30th May for a week and not on the weekends. Don’t leave your bin bags on the street overnight.
