About the Awards
The HullSTARS Awards are here to showcase the fantastic student landlords we have in Hull, and show off the best of the best of Hull's accommodation.
We’re celebrating the hard work and efforts of landlords across the city that give students the very best quality housing. These awards highlight those who go above and beyond to deliver an excellent experience for their tenants.
How to Enter
Entries are open to all HullSTARS registered landlords/managing agents who will continue to be members into 2019/20. Submissions are now open and will close at 5pm on Friday, 31st May 2019. Each category will be shortlisted and entrants notified of their shortlisting by Wednesday, 31st July 2019, with the winners being promoted at our annual Housing Fair. Each award must have a minimum of three submissions in order to be awarded.
Only landlords who register for 2019/20 will be eligible for these awards, and only properties registered will be taken into consideration. Landlords on a biennial subscription may also apply.
Where the category mentions that review feedback will be considered, the quality of the review will need to be sufficient to justify awarding a winner as well as being published on the HullSTARS website as opposed to in a card or email format. If you are prompting your tenants to leave a review, it may be in your interests to ask them to say more than a few words.
Best Landlord or Managing Agent of the Year
The shortlist will be formulated based on scoring a landlords written submission, review feedback scores and audit scores for HullSTARS registered properties. From here the panel will make a decision on the overall winner.
Best Small Landlord of the Year
Recognising smaller landlords with fewer than 20 properties. The shortlist will be formulated based on scoring a landlords written submission, review feedback scores and audit scores for 2018/19 for registered properties. From here the panel will make a decision on the overall winner.
Accommodation of the Year
The shortlist will be formulated from the landlords written submission, review feedback scores and overall audit scores. This award will be given to a single property, and the written submission must make reference to this property specifically, not any other stock.
Best Quality Award
This award will be presented to the landlord who scores the highest average feedback score with regard to quality, alongside the landlords written submission. Where there is a tie, the panel will decide on the winner.
Green Impact Award
This award will be presented to the landlord or managing agent who demonstrates, through their written submission and Green Impact score, the steps/processes they are taking in their properties and their organisation to minimise the carbon footprint of their properties and their business.
Safer Hull Award
This is an award to recognise landlords who demonstrate, through their submission, that they take student safety especially seriously and go over and above their normal obligations to provide a secure property.
Social Responsibility Award
This is an award to recognise a landlord who demonstrates, through their submission, steps which have taken their responsibility to the community and to the city of Hull to the next level.
Student Satisfaction Award
This award will be shortlisted from those landlords who receive the highest average overall feedback score. The winner will be decided by the panel that will take the comments of all feedback given on board. To be entered for this award, please select the correct box for your reviews to be considered for this award.
Value for Money Award
This award will be presented to the landlord who scores the highest average feedback score with regard to value for money and their written submission. Where there is a tie, the panel will decide on the winner.
